Westworld: Season 4 Trailer Reveals the Return of a “Dead” Character

“We are not here to transcend, we are here to destroy”

Season 4 of ‘Westworld’ brings back the Man in Black, played by Ed Harrisdespite having been apparently attacked by his cyborg version, as we saw at the end of the 3rd season of the series.

In the third installment of the famous sci-fi series we were led to believe that William (that’s his real name) had served his time in this narrative, but a brand new trailer confirms otherwise.

As you can see above, Harris’s character is alive and well, only now he’s constructed of wires and synthetic fabric.

Those of your kind dedicated themselves to hunting usCharlotte Hale, played by Tessa Thompson, tells him as he is connected to the android farm. You controlled our every move and now I’m going to do the same to you. It’s time to evolve into the species we were destined to become“.

He replies with premonition: “Perhaps it’s time you questioned the nature of your own reality. We are not here to transcend, we are here to destroy…”

Is an all-out battle for survival looming, with humanity the likely loser?

Co-creator Jonathan Nolan had previously spoken about the Man in Black season 4 arc in 2020. “I’m a big believer in being guided by irony,” he said while attending the Paley Center for Media.

“(The Man in Black) ends up becoming this thing that he’s controlled for so long. And on a visceral level, I can’t wait to see Ed kill everyone.”

Earlier this month, it was announced that Teddy Flood, the character brought to life by James Marsden, will return to ‘Westworld’ after a four-year hiatus.

Next Monday, June 27, the 4th season of the series arrives at HBO Max. In addition to Harris, who returns as an android, since the trailer confirms what we saw in the post-credits scenes, Evan Rachel Wood clearly returns as Dolores, Aaron Paul, Thandie Newton, Tessa Thompson and Jeffrey Wright.
