BRASÍLIA – Vice President e Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Geraldo Alckminstated on Wednesday 24th that the Nova Indústria Brasil program “has nothing to do” with the issue Supervisor of the country and that the initiative will not entail any type of expense beyond that provided for in the art Balance.
“Part of the money to finance the sector incentive project will be raised on the market,” he said in an interview with the UOL Portal. “There is no money from the government. In fact, it has no fiscal impact.”
Alckmin said he perceived a bias against the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and has said several times that the government will not make any kind of contribution to the development bank.
“In the industrial program, BNDES wants to participate deeply in the critical minerals sector in strategic areas, the value is minimal,” he said. “The government will not contribute to the BNDES, it will not provide additional resources.”
He specified that the program includes six missions, with lines of action that will be detailed later. The Vice President defended the innovation-supporting nature of the sector development programme, as well as its aspects aimed at encouraging sustainability and competitiveness.
Alckmin also advocated for greater industry access to credit lines and cited as an example the proposal to create the Line of Credit for Development (LCD), currently underway in Congress.
“Credit is crucial for the sector. The exchange rate of R$4.90, R$5, is competitive, it just doesn’t vary too much. The high interest rates are coming down,” he stressed.
