Write it in your diary! Cars from Compadecida 2 has a release date

One of the most anticipated Brazilian films of all time, “O Auto da Compadecida 2” just got a release date: it will be December 25th this year.

The announcement was made this Thursday (25) on social media, in a joint post by actor Selton Mello and the production company Conspiração Filmes.

As the advertisement itself jokes, “O Auto da Compadecida 2” will be a real Christmas present for us.

Now, I read some comments on this post and there are people complaining about the date, saying they will travel…

The explanation for this involves the financial side. Several films recently released in late December have performed well at the box office. This is the case of “Minha Mãe é uma Peça 3”, which premiered in that period and reached more than 11 million viewers.

It’s that story, the guy might be traveling, but there are a lot of people who don’t travel. There are many people who put cinema as a priority recreational activity. And there are many waiting for this sequel.

The anticipation surrounding the film is enormous, given that the 2000 film was the most watched of the time, as well as having become a classic of national cinema.

“Auto da Compadecida 2” will be set 25 years after the original film and will show how time has changed the small town of Taperoá.

As I just said, the first film was an adaptation of Ariano Suassuna’s work.

The second film, however, will be inspired by her. In other words, it will have a completely original plot. Suassuna did not write the second part of the Auto da Compadecida.

Some characters will be the same. The plot, however, will be new.

The directors, screenwriters and cast guarantee that this will not be a problem and promise to respect the lyrical universe created by the poet.

Directed by Guel Arraes and Flávia Lacerda, with a screenplay written by Arraes, Adriana Falcão and João Falcão (the same trio as the original film).

The premiere of “O Auto da Compadecida 2” is scheduled for December 25, 2024.
