HBO Max will change its name to Max, starting in February. The name change is due to the fact that the HBO Max streaming service has a very diverse library and consumers do not recognize the brand.
The above information and announcement of the change was made by Warner Bros Discovery on January 24, 2024. Therefore, the HBO Max streaming service will only be Max, starting on February 27, 2024. The change will not just be in the name, but the new version of the platform will include more channels and productions in its catalog and will undergo adjustments to subscription plans.
In the USA the transition to Max has already taken place in mid-2023. Now it arrives in Brazil and promises even more content. The strategy is to make Max the second largest streaming platform in Brazil, a position it already holds in the United States.
Max will have more titles in the catalog, including additional channels and productions. Furthermore, he will present a much larger number of productions with 4K image quality, with more than a thousand films and series.
As for subscription plans, Max will have a standard plan with a similar price to HBO Max, but will include a new premium plan, which allows you to play titles in 4K UHD.
Will HBO Max subscribers have access to Max?
Current HBO Max subscribers are already asking if they will have access to Max and the answer is yes. Warner has already informed that, on launch day, former HBO subscribers will be able to access (keeping the same features as their current plan) and the price they pay will also be maintained for a certain period of time. This includes users who subscribed to HBO Max at a 50% discount.
But it’s worth keeping an eye on the updates, because in the statement sent by the press office, Max makes the following announcement: “will retain current plan features and pricing for a limited time after Max launches. Likewise, HBO Max users who received the 50% off introductory offer billed through HBO Max will retain the discount as long as they comply with the terms and the conditions of the promotion”.
According to Warner, in addition to the HBO collection, the platform will make available productions from Warner Bros., DC Universe, Discovery, Discovery Home & Health, ID, Cartoon Network, Discovery Kids and Adult Swim. With the integration of Discovery content, Discovery+ will be discontinued.

More than double in the new schedule
Max’s programming also includes screenings of Sony Pictures films, live events and local original productions. In total, the catalog will contain more than 37 thousand hours of content, which is more than double what is currently available on HBO Max.
For fans of HBO’s highly successful series and films, the catalog will continue on Max, this is the case with Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, ‘The Big Bang Theory, for example.
Current HBO Max subscribers won’t have to do anything, they will automatically be transferred to the new streaming service. At most, they will have to go through a two-click process to access the platform. Some devices may require an update when launching the app, but all user settings will be preserved.
For the other closed channels of the group (HBO, HBO2, Discovery and Discovery Kids) nothing changes and they will continue to be available.

Subscribers will have three plan options to subscribe to Max. All with monthly or annual payment options, via credit card. The annual plan offers a discount of up to 36%.
