Excellent adventure series with a professor at La Casa de Papel to watch on Prime Video

We are in 1519. Portuguese sailor Fernand de Magellan, convinced of the existence of a passage bypassing the Americas, wants to reach the Indonesian islands and its precious spices from the west. Managed to persuade the King of Spain to fund the expedition project, he heads straight for the unknown, armed with a fleet of five ships.

Of the 237 men who went with him in 1522, only 18 returned safely. After 3 years of sailing in the most extreme conditions, they completed the very first lap of the world. Available on Prime Video, the TV series Without Borders depicts this journey that changed history forever, with 6 episodes, each lasting an average of 40 minutes.

While his beard and hair completely transform him, it is Alvaro Morte, a brilliant professor at La Casa de Papel, who is on the poster without borders. What we have seen here in several episodes of the Wheel of Time embodies the right arm of Juan Sebastian Elcano, the great navigator Magellan. The latter is interpreted by Rodrigo Santoro, who was revealed in Love Actually and who gave his qualities to the terrible King Xerxes in 300, or Hector Escaton in Westworld.

In addition to Magellan’s wife Beatrice (Barbara Goenga), there are historical figures who were part of the epic: Pigafeta (Niccolo Sen), an Italian whose writings are one of the main sources of this adventure, or the rebellious captains Cartagena. (Sergio Perry-Mancheta) and Mendoza (Adrian Lastra). The whole case is directed by Simon West, directed by Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Expendables 2: Special Unit.

If the story of the world’s first detour navigation with Sans Limites returns to the center stage, it is no coincidence, as this success marks the 500th candle this year. Thus, the creators of the series took care to recreate the main events that marked the first detour navigation, not forgetting to offer a good dose of spectacle and dramatic intensity, for our greatest pleasure!

Clearly, the context is particularly well-adjusted: the uncertainty of the crew about returning alive, the particularly difficult conditions of navigation, and the encounter with indigenous peoples, which led to uprisings and bloody clashes. All this without forgetting the Portuguese-Spanish conflict as a backdrop. So, are you ready to embark on this exciting journey?

6 episodes of the series without borders are fully available on Prime Video.
