T Phone is a new concept of mobile phone that works without apps, as it performs tasks based on artificial intelligence
Mobile apps could become a thing of the past. At least this is what is proposed by the German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, owner of the operator T-Mobile in several countries, which has collaborated with Brain.ai to develop what could be the first mobile phone that runs entirely on artificial intelligence (IA).

Called the T Phone, the device is currently nothing more than a prototype. Its operation should only be based on large language models (LLMs)and tasks would be performed with a few relatively simple commands.
The example shown by the images published by the company concerns the planning of a flight. Instead of accessing the corresponding website or application, searching for the flight and scheduling it on the right day and time, you just need to execute a command with a few sentences and the mobile phone carries out all these steps on its own.

This is an initiative similar to that of the Rabbit R1 gadget, which was presented during CES 2024 in the early days of 2024. With it it is possible to carry out most of the tasks that a mobile phone already does, but relying only on voice or text commands that the AI interprets and tries to carry out on its own.
However, the Rabbit R1 is a gadget made to be used in combination with a traditional mobile phone, and not independently. Therefore, it would be necessary to always carry the two products together in your pocket, for example.

Herein lies the supposed advantage of the T Phone, since the mobile phone is itself the AI device. According to Jon Abrahamson, product director of Deutsche Telekom, the idea is to “improve and simplify consumers’ lives, through a completely app-free mobile phone”.
For now the company has not provided further details nor made public demonstrations of the T Phone, but has already promised that the device will be shown during the next edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which will begin on February 26. and will take place in Barcelona, Spain.
In addition to the T Phone, Deutsche Telekom also intends to announce a mobile phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. However, it is not clear whether it will work in the traditional way with applications or with AI commands.
The chip present in the cell phone was announced by Qualcomm late last yearand brings AI resources among its main innovations. After all, they enable text generation and AI information processing directly in the component and not in the cloud, which ensures greater agility and privacy in tasks, including those relating to photo editing and video editingFor example.
Deutsche Telekom did not confirm when its new handsets will be available for sale, and only said that “it will take some time before they reach stores.” In turn, the Rabbit R1 can now be purchased in pre-sale in European countries and the United States, and deliveries are expected to begin in March.
