Later in the same episode, the FFI (French Internal Forces) go hunting for the staff. Women who had relations with Germans were then threatened with an immediate sanction: beheaded. Punishment takes place in the public square, where the tortured are subject to public vengeance.

And this is Arlette, who is represented as one of those shaved women, humiliated in front of a crowd, in the back of a truck. But did this scene really happen?

Did Arlette get cut?

In 1996, journalist Dennis Dempion published a biography of the actor with the sober title Arletteat home Flamerion. He explains that Arletti must answer for her affair with Hans Jürgen Sohring. It’s not a mower, unlike what the Apple TV+ series shows.

What we call “horizontal cooperation” led to him being sent to the Drancy camp for a few days, then to Frenes Penitentiary Center for a few weeks. Drance was used as an internment site for collaborators during the purge. Then Arlet was under house arrest for 18 months.

As told in the TV movie Arletty, a guilty passion – where Laetitia Casta plays the star of the Hôtel du Nord – the actress received a reprimand from the purge committee in 1946, as well as a three-year ban from work.

The fourth episode of The New Look is now available on Apple TV+.
