Did you like him as the doctor on Grey’s Anatomy? He returns to the action series… Italian!

While fans are still trying to recover from leaving Grey’s Anatomy — and only after a small part in the third season of Murder House — Jesse Williams will (already) return to the small screen soon.

The former Grey’s Anatomy star has been tapped to star in the Italian series Costiera for a premiere video shot on the Amalfi Coast. The series is described as a high-level action drama, shot in English, but with comedic elements. All are directed by Emmy winner Adam Bernstein (30 Rock, Fargo), who is currently filming on location, we learn variety.

An elegant procedural

In Costiera, Jesse Williams stars as Italian-American ex-Marine Daniel De Luca, a problem-solving specialist at one of the world’s most exclusive hotels in Positano. He is the owner’s guest because DD – as everyone calls him – is the only person who saw the man who may have kidnapped his daughter, and therefore the only person who could track down the kidnapper. Other than that plot, DD basically solves the case in each episode.

Costiera is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Luca Bernabe for Lux Vide, the Fremantle-owned Italian company behind international series such as The Medici: Masters of Florence and financial thriller Devils. Jesse Williams will also executive produce the series. Based on an idea by Luca Bernabé, Costiera is written by Elena Bucaccio, Matthew Parkhill and Francesco Arlanchi.
