Dune: Part Two debuts at the top in the USA

Duna: second part It just hit theaters and is already racking up impressive numbers in the US. Released on Friday 1st, the sequence grossed $81.5 million (more than R$400 million, in current conversion) in its first weekend, 10 times higher than that recorded by Bob Marley: One love, which remains in second place in the weekly chart with over $7.43 million.

As the title suggests, Dune 2 continues the story of Dune, also directed by Villeneuve, released in 2021: the film grossed $402 million at the box office worldwide, approximately R$1.9 billion, and also took home six Oscars.

The science fiction is based on the book of the same name (620 pages long) written by Frank Herbert. In this universe, the galaxy is organized into planetary fiefdoms. And Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), heir to the ruling family of the planet Arrakis, is about to become a sort of messiah for the galaxy. Check out the trailer here!

In addition to Chalamet, names such as Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux and Tim Blake Nelson appear in the sequence.
