Actor Christian Bale was questioned about returning Batman to live in theaters and said he would consider a proposal.
Bale is returning to the world of comics, this time in a very opposite adaptation to the one he experienced in the Dark Knight trilogy, between 2008 and 2012. If a hero lived in DC at the time, he now embodied Marvel villain Gorr. , the Butcher of the Gods, in “Thor: Love and Thunder”.
And with the return of the theme of the comic book adaptations on Christian Bale, more and more questions begin to arise about the successful trilogy he has starred in in the past. With Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck returning to play the Dark Knight, there is a precedent for the arrival of one of the most beloved actors to play the character.
But in conversations with the comicbook.com, Bale stated that there was no attempt to bring him back to play Batman, saying that no one contacted him. But if Warner Bros. is considering his return as a character, Bale would consider the idea, but on one very important condition.
“For me, it would be a question of Chris Nolan, if he ever decides to do it again and if he chooses to come to me again, then yes, I would consider it because that has always been the deal between us, and we would make it fulfill it. . We said we were only going to do three [filmes]. And so I said to myself, ‘and I’d just do it with Chris [Nolan]”said the actor.
So, despite being open to the possibility, Bale has linked a potential return to the role of Batman around Christopher Nolan, who has seen increasing success with films such as “Interstellar”, “Dunkirk” and “Tenet”, and who now works in the his next feature, “Oppenheimer”, which arrives in 2023 as one of the most anticipated releases.
Bale had already commented on a return in a 2019 interview, where he left much less openness, noting that everything has always been thought of as a trilogy.
The fact seems to be that Warner Bros. must first convince Nolan that it would be a good idea to come back, and open an acclaimed trilogy with a definitive ending, so that Bale could return to playing Batman. Which is quite unlikely.
Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy starring Christian Bale is available on HBO Max.
