After Vortex, Tomer Sisley joins Laura Smith’s new detective series

Since the completion of Balthazar in February 2023, Tomer Sisley has been working on several projects. After starring roles in Comme Mon Fils and Vortex, the actor will soon lead France Télévisions’ new mini-series called Surface.

Adapted from Olivier Noreck’s 2019 novel of the same name, this fiction gives the actor the chance to answer Laura Smet (La Garçonne).

Laura Smith as a twisted cop

In Surface, Laura Smith plays Noémia Chastain, a Parisian police captain who is assigned to the police station in a small town in Occitanie after an intervention disfigures half of her face.

Before he had to report on the activities of the police department and its possible closure, he suddenly finds himself immersed in a disappearance case dating back twenty years. A barrel containing a child’s skeleton rises to the surface of an artificial lake, at the bottom of which lies an ancient sunken village…

Despite his superiors, who see him as fragile, the captain takes charge of the matter. But through this strange investigation, he will see a whole buried part of his life come back to life.

According to Télé Loisirs, Tomer Sisley will play the role of a diver at the center of the plot leading to the discovery of a cold case.

Tomer Sisley reunites with Vortex Director

Produced by Quad Drama, Surface will be directed by Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun, who notably worked on Vortex, an ambitious police miniseries starring Tomer Sisley as a cop who manages to connect with his wife who died 20 years ago.

The six 52-minute episodes were written by Catherine Touzet and Marie Descheres. Filming will begin on April 9 and will take place between Paris, Brussels and the Occitanie region.
