‘Spencer’ Would Protect Dan Schneider’s ‘iCarly’ Boys: Fans Say He’s A Hero Without A Cape

Jerry Trainor is a 47-year-old actor best remembered for his role as Spencer on the series ‘iCarly’. In the story he is Carly’s older brother and stands out not only for his free and creative spirit, but also for providing a safe space for his sister and her friends.

In real life, the way the show’s young cast is dealing gives fans something to talk about.

‘iCarly’ Spencer’s Jerry Trainor Would Have ‘Protected’ Dan Schneider’s Child Cast, Fans Say

The documentary “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV” revealed how Dan Schneider, producer of the hit Nickelodeon series, mistreated his creative team. In particular, the comments, attitudes and sexual “jokes” he made with the child actors have been highlighted.

Since its premiere, videos and reports have resurfaced on social networks about what was experienced on and off the set. Multiple posts on “iCarly” would indicate, fans claim, that Jerry Trainor would have “protected” his younger classmates from Dan Schneider’s abusive behavior.

According to what fans express on digital platforms, on more than one occasion, actor Spencer appears to be between Schneider and Miranda Cosgrove or Jennette McCurdy.

As if that wasn’t enough, there are also a few videos of Trainor expressing her displeasure over some of the former Nickelodeon producer’s comments or practices. In one passage, for example, he complains about the grueling recording schedule with a guttural “Let us go, Dan!”, followed by a laugh that cuts through the tension.

In another video, Dan Schneider expresses in an interview that he doesn’t care if the actors get upset with him since he approves the scripts and “can put them in any horrible situation he chooses”, to which Trainor “responds” by pushing him lightly and pretending to start a fight.

Too many showrunners obsess over their cast and take it out on the scripts looking at you Ryan Murphy and Joss Whedon!!! #fypシ #winner #icarly #danschneider

Likewise, anecdotes have resurfaced that the performer never left the set, even when he didn’t have to record scenes, to ensure there was supposedly an adult near the children at all times.

Additionally, after “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV” premiered, Jerry Trainor unfollowed Nickelodeon’s Instagram accounts.

Among the alleged evidence fans found of Jerry Trainor’s “protective” behavior, many also recalled the support he gave Jennette McCurdy after her autobiography was published.

In 2022, actress Sam published “I’m Glad My Mom Died”, where she recounts the abuse she experienced as a child from her mother, as well as awkward situations during recording sessions that led her to quit acting.

In May 2023, Trainor was asked about this and commented:

“I read it immediately and spoke to her. It’s heartbreaking but also brilliant and funny and I felt so proud that she was able to speak her truth. “I spoke to her and told her exactly that.”

What did the ‘iCarly’ cast say after Dan Schneider’s accusations?

It should be noted that, so far, the actor behind Spencer has not spoken publicly about the documentary.

The same goes for the main cast of “iCarly”: Miranda Cosgrove, Jennette McCurdy, Nathan Kress or Noah Munck have not released statements about “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side On Kids TV.” Although actress Sam has previously revealed in her book ‘I’m Glad My Mum’s Dead’ some of the controversial situations she experienced during her time as a child actress.

BooG!e, Bobbie K Bowman, who played T-Bo in the series is the only one who has been embroiled in the controversy. After the documentary premiered, he was interviewed by Dan Schneider in a video posted on their respective YouTube channels.
