Raúl Gil was honored by Sunday with Huckfrom the Globeaired this Easter Sunday, the 31st. At some point, he announced his retirementat the age of 86.
“I want to warn you, the public, the viewer, that this year I will retire. I will no longer do television. I will stay until the end of this year, 2024. Then, I stopped watching television,” he said during a conversation with Luciano Huck and Paulo Miklos, from Titãs, on the stage of the attraction.
“86 years and 60 of television, services provided, right?,” said Huck, who applauded along with the musician and the audience. “Yeah… so I’m going to take a break. I think it’s time to retire,” Gil continued.
OR Estadao sought contact with SBT regarding Raul Gil’s decision to retire, but did not receive a response until the publication of this report.

Luciano Huck introduces his colleague: “Someone who has been on the air for over 50 years, owner of iconic paintings that have spanned generations, owner of enormous talent, unmistakable style, humor and, to top it off, he can sing. A presenter which played an important role in the beginning of the careers of several artists.”
“With whom I competed at the same time as the beginning of my Globo cycle, in 2000, but with enormous respect. Today is the day to recognize those who helped pave the path I walk on today. Pay respect to him: the host of hat, from the stool, from the freshmen. From the height of his 86 years, Raul Gil, to Domingão!”, he continued.
Then, the host entered the stage in his traditional manner. He was welcomed by the audience who sang the traditional song from his auditorium: “Raul asked / you didn’t understand well / take your stool / and go quietly”.
Sitting on a stool and holding a golden microphone brought by the production, Raul Gil looked at a series of images from the collection narrated by Luciano Huck. He was remembered from his youth, as one of the 10 children of a Spanish immigrant couple, who worked selling sweets at the fair, being a metalworker and bus washer.
His television career has been highlighted since the beginning, on TV Excelsior, passing through Record and Tupi up to SBT. “He moves us, because you come from nowhere … And soon you will receive such a tribute,” he thanked with tears in her eyes.
Then, a dynamic where an artist’s voice was presented so Raul could try to guess who it was. Once the identities were revealed, videos were shown with messages honoring the communicator. Messages from Simony, Sidney Magal, Ary Toledo, Titãs and Ratinho were shown.
