Ghostbusters: Who remembers the brilliant animated series?

who will you call Ghosts!!! No offense, I’ll re-explain how Ivan Reitman’s film became iconic for an entire generation. In a galaxy of spinoffs, the film was logically turned into an animated series called The Real Ghostbusters.

Created by the duo Joseph Michael Straczynski and Harold Ramis, it was a huge success, to the point of being renewed for seven seasons, broadcast from September 1986 to September 1991 in the United States on the ABC network. In France, the series was broadcast from November 1987 on the show Cabou Cadin on Canal+.

Here are the opening credits of the animated series once again. The pleasure of hearing again Ray Parker Jr.’s brilliant song that accompanied the film and was nominated for an Oscar…

The characters… don’t really look alike

If the names of our parapsychology researchers are preserved, the animated series has made several changes, starting with the appearance of the characters. In early promotional work for the series, the character Peter Venkman looked more like Bill Murray, and Egon Spengler looked more like Harold Ramis.

But the animators changed Peter Venkman’s appearance and changed Egon’s hair color from brown to blonde to avoid possible prosecution for using the features of real actors without permission. As for Ray Stanz and Winston Zeddemore, their characters were never drawn to resemble Dan Aykroyd or Ernie Hudson, respectively.

and the famous buffet-tout ghost (Slimer in VO)? He transforms here into a companion to our favorite ghost hunters, where in the film he seems more of a warrior. Also thanks to his popularity in the animated series, he was decided to return in Ghostbusters 2. In fact, such a popular character that has entered pop culture in a big way that he of course appears in Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace!
