Jackie Chan he had to clarify to his fans that he is fine after a photo of him appearing much older circulated in the media. Celebrating his 70th birthday, the actor assured that there is no reason to worry.
“It’s just a character characterization for my latest film,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “The character demands that I have white hair, a white beard and look old.”

Even before today, many friends have reminded me: “Jackieit’s going to be your 70th birthday!” Whenever I hear that number, my heart stops for a second — am I already 70? After recovering from the shock, the second thing that comes to mind is a saying my older brother old, Sammo Hung, once said, “being able to grow old is a fortunate thing.” Especially for us stunt people, we don’t know how lucky we are to be able to age.
Not long ago, many friends saw some recent photos of me online and they were all worried about my health. I want to take this opportunity to let everyone know, don’t worry! It’s just a character characterization for my latest film. The character demands that I have white hair, a white beard and look old. Over the years, I’ve always been willing to try new things for a film, no matter if it’s a challenging action scene or an innovative look for a character. I’ve been in the entertainment industry for 62 years and I cherish every moment because I’m lucky enough to still be filming today.
Recently, my team has been going through my photo archives and found so many memorable photos. I selected some to post with this message. Looking at these photos brings back so many cherished memories. All I can say is: I love making movies and I love you all.
