It was in 1967 when Gabriel García Márquez published “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, a novel that tells the story of the Buendía family, the town of Macondo and the curse that haunts them, and which became one of the most representative of the Nobel Prize. in literature since 1982.
More than 50 years after that first version, Netflix announced in 2019 that it would be making an adaptation of the Buendía origin story.
Since then, information about the ambitious project has been trickling in. In October 2022, for example, a teaser arrived that barely showed the creation of the set and costumes for the series. Now, we have the first official trailer, which reveals more details.

On April 17, the first preview of the TV adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s novel arrived. In the teaser, Aureliano Babilonia’s voice is heard deciphering Melquiades’ diary, while Colonel Aureliano Buendía appears before a firing squad. The trailer also shows the departure of José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán in search of happiness and escape from the family curse.
Clocking in at just under 1 minute and 30 seconds, the trailer for One Hundred Years of Solitude doesn’t reveal many details about what we’ll see in the Netflix series, revealing that it would be as faithful to Gabriel García Marquez’s novel as possible.
The series will have 16 chapters, although it is currently unknown if these will cover the entire history of the Buendía family or if it will have more seasons.
