The ‘Friends’ actress reveals her experience on the show was ‘horrible’ for these reasons

Throughout its 10 seasons, “Friends” has had a long list of guest actors, both famous and those just starting their careers.

Such was the case of Olivia Williams, who before starring in the films “The Sixth Sense”, “The Father” or “The Crown” (with the role of Camilla Parker Bowles), had a brief appearance in the comedy series.

However, his experience in popular comedy was not as pleasant as many imagine: this he revealed.

Williams appeared on “Friends” during the season 4 finale, in a two-part episode. She played Felicity, one of Helen Baxendale’s character Emily’s bridesmaids at her wedding to Ross Geller, played by David Schwimmer. During these episodes, Williams’ character also had a brief romantic interlude with Matt LeBlanc’s character Joey.

Olivia Williams has previously described her experience on Friends as “horrendous,” without elaborating.

It was only this April that he revealed what he experienced in an interview with “The Independent”.

“Oh my God. Well, for example, I was taken to the studio in a carpool with a wonderful actress whose character, I think, was called ‘Old Lady.’ At one point, a producer just yelled at her, ‘You’re not funny!’ And he didn’t come back the next day. So that was a concern,” Williams said.

Additionally, Williams shared that she was asked to have a certain physical appearance to appear in the frame: “’Friends’ was a brand and you had to fit that. You walk into hair and makeup and they say, “Take a look, this is what we do.”

According to him, before appearing in front of the camera they made some changes that he not only considered unnecessary but could even affect his work: “This basically involved tearing off all your eyebrows. literally, [decía] “Please don’t pluck my eyebrows, I might need them for another job!”

“So it was heartbreaking,” Williams said.

‘Friends’ director reveals how difficult it was to work with an actress from the show

Everything shows that season 4 of the series was particularly difficult for its creative team.

In his memoirs, James Burrows, director of “Friends” revealed his perception of Helen Baxendale, who played Emily, Ross Geller’s wife in the series.

Burrows reports that he never found Baxendale “particularly funny” and felt that she lacked chemistry with David Schwimmer, who played Ross Geller.

The director hinted that consideration was given to hiring someone else to play the character of Emily. However, tight production schedules and other logistical issues made this impossible.
