The referees are the Brazilians Edina Alves, Neuza Ines Back, Fabrini Bevilaqua Costa and Daiane Muniz, all FIFA-SP
The duel between Always Ready (BOL) and César Vallejo (PER), this Thursday (25th), for the Sul-Americana-2024, will have a special – and Brazilian – ingredient. The four members, i.e. 100% of the arbitration panel, will be made up of women.
After all, the central referee will be Edina Alves (FIFA-SP). Neuza Ines Back (FIFA-SP) and Fabrini Bevilaqua Costa (FIFA-SP) will be the assistants. The latest Brazilian to join the team is Daiane Muniz (FIFA-SP) as video referee.
The match is therefore valid for the third round of Group A and will start at 8pm (Brasilia time), at the Municipal Stadium in El Alto, Bolivia.
The quartet is already known throughout the world. In January this year, the same refereeing team conducted the friendly match between Al-Hilal (SAU) and Inter Miami (USA), in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Edina Alves is the record holder among Brazilian men and women in World Cup matches. There are now eight World Cup matches, surpassing the record of former referee Carlos Eugênio Simon, who refereed seven matches in three World Cups (2002, 2006 and 2010).
Assistant Neuza Back also holds an important record. He has participated in three World Cups, equaling Simon’s number of World Cup appearances.
