What happened to Asunta Basterra’s parents in real life?
Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra were sentenced in November 2015 to 18 years in prison for the murder of their adopted daughter, Asuda. Although both always denied killing her, the authorities remained steadfast in their decision.

Alfonso Basterra continues to serve his sentence in Teixeiro prison. The creator of the series, Ramón Campos, in an interview with “Fotogramas”, explained why he decided to end the series with a photo of Asunta Basterra and her parents, Rosario Porto and Alfonso Basterra, happy and before the crime.
According to the producer of “The Asunta Case”, his intention was not to end the series saying “look, what monsters”: even though they did something horrible and that in the trial they were convicted of something horrible, he wanted to remember that when it all started It was a family that loved each other and had a lot of affection for their daughter.
Campos asked Rosario’s lawyer to allow him to enter his house to x-ray his family and check if the parents loved Asuda as the lawyers defended: “It’s true, all the elements in that house were dedicated to the girl. “.
