Porto Alegre airport suspends flights and take-offs due to rain in RS

Salgado Filho airport, in Porto Alegre, suspended 3 landings and takeoffs on Friday evening. due to the rains that hit Rio Grande do Sul, Fraport Brasil, the concessionaire that manages the airport, issued a statement at 8pm, inviting passengers with scheduled trips to contact the airlines for more information on flights .

On the airport’s flight panel, some companies kept the flights scheduled for the early morning of Saturday 6th, while others chose to cancel them.

In Porto Alegre, the rising level of the Guaíba River caused flooding of the streets in the center, as well as the bus station. Meteorologists predict that the floods in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul will be worse than the historical record of 1941.
