In 2024 “Pulp Fiction” turns 30. The film, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino (through a story he wrote together with Roger Avery), is one of the most influential works of 90s cinema.
Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, “Pulp Fiction” left a lasting legacy that can still be seen today. A legacy that goes far beyond the countless films produced from the second half of the 1990s to the late 2000s that adopted his self-reflexive and referential style.
The strength of “Pulp Fiction” is also felt in its fan base, which still awaits a new sequel today. But is there any possibility of a “Pulp Fiction 2”?
Although Quentin Tarantino has expressed interest in revisiting the “Pulp Fiction” universe over the years, .
However, recently, a piece of news can give a little hope that something could change.
Tarantino is known for his promise to make only 10 films “written and directed by Quentin Tarantino” and then retire from film. This restriction explains his meticulousness in each new project. The opening credits of his films always indicate the number of the work in his filmography.

However, the aforementioned hope comes from the cancellation of what would have been his tenth and final authorial film, “The Movie Critic”.
However, this hope is only a small spark. It is very unlikely that the meticulous Tarantino will end his career with a “Pulp Fiction 2.”
However, if “The Movie Critic” had moved forward, the possibility of a “Pulp Fiction 2” would be highly unlikely. However, the delayed project could have offered an alternative to satisfy fans.

This is because, according to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, “The Movie Critic” was supposed to bring back several characters from Quentin Tarantino’s previous films, creating an integrated universe of his works.
Details about which characters and films would be included in this proposal have not been released, and it is unknown whether there would be any specific connection to “Pulp Fiction.” But this idea of working again with characters from previous films in his career is something that recurs frequently in the director’s ideas.
Tarantino has already promised on several occasions to revisit “Pulp Fiction.” One of the most famous, however, would not be a film 2, but a prequel. And a prequel not only to “Pulp Fiction”, but also to another film by the director: “Reservoir Dogs”.

The project in question would be “Double V Vega”, a film about the Vega brothers. The idea was to bring back John Travolta as Vincent Vega (from “Pulp Fiction”) and Michael Madsen as Vic Vega (from “Reservoir Dogs”). The plot would follow an adventure of the brothers in Amsterdam before the events of the original films.
Tarantino began considering this idea around the time he was developing “Inglourious Basterds.” However, things didn’t take off. One of the main obstacles was the fact that Madsen and Travolta were already much older. Added to this is the fact that the project was supposed to be a prequel, since both characters died in their respective films.

Additionally, in 2016, Tarantino told Movie Nerds that he already had the undeveloped idea of making a solo film for Jules Winnfield, the character played by Samuel L. Jackson.
Finally, in 2003, Tarantino complained to Aotearoa News (via Empire) that he had scrapped the idea for “Double V Vega,” but that he still intended to make a sequel to “Pulp Fiction.” According to him it would be a way to “apologize for never having gotten the Vega Brothers off the ground”. But the idea was never realized.
