The Gaucho judiciary extends deadlines and suspends hearings and trials

The measure is announced in response to worsening weather conditions in the state

The president of the Court of Justice of Rio Grande do Sul, judge Alberto Delgado Neto, announced this Friday afternoon (5/3) the extension of the procedural, jurisdictional and administrative deadlines which would expire between 6 and 10 May 2024. The measure is applies to both the first and second levels of jurisdiction, with extension to the first following working day.

Law no. 035/2024-P also suspends working hours in the presence of the Gaucho judiciary, including judicial and administrative services, during the same period. However, remote working and the permanent availability service will be maintained. Additionally, designated hearings and trial sessions will also be suspended.

The provision of essential services by outsourced workers will follow the guidelines of the General Management and the Forum Management.

This decision was taken following the worsening of the consequences of the storms that hit the State, in addition to the declaration of a state of public calamity by the Governor and the overflowing of Lake GuaĆba, which caused the advancement of the waters over the roads of the Historic Center, Praia de Belas and other places in Porto Alegre.
