It inspired Dexter: Here’s the True Story of a Brazilian Punisher!

In 2007, French audiences met Dexter Morgan, a forensic scientist by day and a bloodthirsty serial killer by night. The hero, played on screen by the imperious Michael S. Holly, and who, despite her penchant for blood (and murder), would go on to become one of the greatest fictional characters of recent years.

But did you know that Jeff Lindsay was inspired to write his novel, from which the TV series was adapted, by a real crime that ran rampant in Brazil in the 70s? The one the media called the Punisher – referring to the Marvel hero – was special… He only killed criminals: murderers, thugs, crooks… From a very young age, Pedro Rodríguez Philo grew up surrounded by violence.
