What are we watching on Netflix this week? If you check out our Top 5 of the Week article, you’ll notice that A Man, a Real Man was ranked by David E. The latest creation from Kelly (who has been on a very good streak lately. years). Without any promotion, it managed to climb the rankings and is now behind Fiasco in 2nd place. But is it still worth watching?
With an average rating of 3.2/5, Real Man seemed to be moderately believable. The series, about an Atlanta real estate tycoon who does everything he can to get back on track while his empire crumbles, definitely has one thing going for it: every character is despicable.
Be it the hero, his ex-wife looking for revenge, the banker looking to take advantage of his former client’s misfortune, the mayor willing to do anything to get re-elected… this production aims to be a portrait of American society, but it seems that not everyone likes it .
Great cast but flawed ending
If we carefully read some of the comments already on the A Man, a Real page, the subscribers especially praise the acting of the actors. It must be said that Jeff Daniels gives an insane performance as Charlie Crooker, a man who refuses to give up his privileges.
Whether it’s Diane Lane (who plays his ex-wife), William Jackson Harper (seen in The Good Place), who offers himself a role against a job he’s perfectly suited for, or even Bill Kemp (a banker who dreams of being a fall croaker ), they were all invested in their characters.
“It’s a great series, we laugh a lot, even if some moments are not for those who end up in prison, Lucy Liu has a small role in the series, the main actor and the banker are great and the ending is great. We’re having a good time.” (Ja Z)
“The actors are great, the sets are great. But I give it a bad rating because the ending of the series is completely wrong.” (Malika).
“Unfortunately, after a start that blew me away, the bubble has deflated a bit. The series lost its way a bit and the fights became more reasonable. And then the ending is quite disappointing in my opinion. “ (read H)
“A very good American series about the world of business and related shenanigans. actor The main character is very charismatic and portrays his character brilliantly. A rhythmic production with sharp dialogues and colorful characters, reminiscent of the excellent Succession series. A great new Netflix release that I highly recommend!” (lia)
You’re going to love hating the characters in this series, and it’s from the creator of Big Little Lies!
“A very good series, led by veterans of US television (David E. Kelly on Creation, Jeff Daniels, John Michael Hill and Lucy Liu) and newcomers (William Jackson Harper appears in “The Good Place”). The series is interesting even if it is quite a departure from the Tom Wolfe book on which it is inspired. It is rhythmic, fun, suspenseful, the production and image are of good quality. If we were to relate this series to reference current productions, we could cite ‘current’ for the quality of writing, the world of business, and the quality of overall interpretation.” (Marjoline A)
“Big surprise. Rarely (never?) from memory have I seen a series without a ‘secondary’ character. There’s a perfect balance of space given to each person’s issues. And not a single character is stereotypical. And we even get the ending. It’s truly a success in every way.” (Stephen D)
“It’s a pretty good series, but the ending is completely wrong, even pathetic. Except for some plot conveniences that bog down the script. “ (port A)
With 6 short episodes, Real Man has the advantage of being a series that can be watched relatively quickly and is perfect for the upcoming public holidays. Are you going to allow yourself to be tempted?
