Four waves of attacks, each more deadly than the last, destroyed almost the entire Earth. Scared, jealous of everything, Cassie runs away and desperately tries to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the fifth wave, both inevitable and fatal, she teams up with a young man who may well represent her last hope – if she trusts him…
This pitch is terrifying, to say the least, from The 5th Wave, a particularly effective SF film directed by Chloe Moretz, who came to prominence six years ago with her role as a hit girl in the cult film Kick-Ass. Adapted from author Rick Yancey’s young adult novel that won critical and public acclaim and spent more than 20 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, this 2016 theatrical release has everything you need to satisfy apocalypse sci-fi fans!
Dark atmosphere, spectacular special effects… The 5th waveWith a great opening scene, there is a great sci-fi movie in which Chloe Moretz, as an ordinary teenager facing an extraordinary situation, is particularly believable. Well seated in the chair, you must win!
A note for a little anecdote that three months after filming began The 5th wave, the film crew had to deal with a “small” unforeseen incident near one of the sets. During a scene filmed in the state of Georgia, the explosion of a bus on the avenue was more than expected: 40 windows shattered and the ceiling collapsed, destroying shop windows and setting the building on fire. When the theme of the movie, namely the apocalypse, really comes to fruition on the set!
