The New York team loses their star, who returns and makes the difference in the victory
The New York Knicks beat the Indiana Pacers 130 to 121, this Wednesday (8), at Madson Square Garden, in New York. With the result, the Knicks take a 2-0 lead in the series and take another step towards the conference final. With a foot injury, Jalen Brunson was the highlight of the game.
Now the series moves to Indianapolis, with two games at the Pacers’ home, Friday (10th), at 8pm (Brasilia time) and Sunday (12th), at 4.30pm (Brasilia time).
HOW DID THE MATCH GO?🏀
Despite a very aggressive defense, the Knicks were unable to stop Indiana’s attack, which saw Tyrese Haliburton in an inspired evening, very different from the first game. With stronger scoring, the New York team ended up committing many fouls, however, the Pacers failed to capitalize on several free throws.
Behind on the scoreboard, the New York team’s situation worsened when Jalen Brunson suffered a foot injury and did not return for the first half. With their opponent absent, the Pacers took advantage and opened a ten-point lead at the end of the second period.
With the return questionable, Brunson managed to get back into the game and gave further encouragement to the players and fans. The Knicks came back with everything and turned the game around, with a show from Donte DiVincenzo and Jalen Brunson. The New York team’s leading scorer until then, OG Anunoby was injured late in the third period and did not return to the game, becoming another concern for the team.
Despite OG’s absence, the Knicks continued to be in good shape and had a lot of help with Brunson scoring beautiful layups, DiVincenzo with a great three-point usage, and Josh Hart with a great rebounding performance. The Pacers don’t give up, with an excellent play by Tyrese Haliburton, who scores the game, the team gets on the scoreboard, but not enough to change the situation.
