According to James Freitas, Coxa already managed to put into practice situations trained during the week, but did not take advantage of the opportunities
At the interim helm of Coritiba in the 1-0 defeat against Avaí, last Saturday (11), in Ressacada, coach James Freitas preferred to look at the glass half full. Although the team wasted many opportunities during the match, especially in the first half, and suffered a setback in the final minutes, the coach highlighted the team’s improvement.
“Our work week was very good. We managed to improve some important points, we had an important participation from our full-backs in the offensive field. We played a match like the week’s training sessions. We had control of the game at certain moments, we produced a lot with 18 shots. Unfortunately we weren’t able to take the lead and after conceding the goal we weren’t able to equalise.“, he declared in the press conference after the match.
“We are growing, things will get better and we will evolve. From what we presented on the pitch we are confident for the next match”, he added.
Coritiba without tranquility
On the other hand, the coach admitted that the players made mistakes in making important decisions on plays that could have given a different direction to the game. And for him this is the result of the lack of tranquility that Coxa is experiencing, with the early eliminations and a bad start in Serie B.
“At that moment when players create situations, they have very little time to make a decision and I attribute this to the moment we live in. This discomfort is due to the results, the disqualifications, this obviously has an impact. And when it comes to deciding, we don’t make the best decision. We need to give more trust. Amodeo gave us the peace of mind to train and try to grow, but this will come with time,” the coach said.
Finally, James believes that the production against Avaí, despite being a defeat, already increases the confidence a little and shows that, against Guarani, next Tuesday (14), at 9.30pm, in Couto Pereira, the team can now perform even better
“I think the fans saw the team play and left much more confident for the next match. He understands football and has seen a competitive team on the pitch. Let’s hope for better luck in the next match,” he concluded.
