Planet of the Apes: Reign has finally arrived in cinemas and, in fact, is already “reigning”. The sequel grossed $56.5 million upon its debut in the United States, exceeding market expectations and reaching number one at the American box office. The numbers also place the film as the second-best film in the series in terms of launch performance, behind only the $72.6 million made by The fightin 2014.

Starting a new chapter on the path of the apes, the sequel will star Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar, the series’ new villain. In addition to him, the cast also includes Freya Allan (The Witcher), William Macy (Fargo), Eka Darville (Jessica Jones) and Lydia Peckham (Cowboy Bebop).
