After a successful launch last week, season 1 of La Recrue continues to air on TF1. Indeed, no less than 3.91 million curious people witnessed the first steps of young repentant crook Kevin in the police!
Played by Ethan Isidore (who revealed to AlloCiné which Hollywood star he was inspired by for the role), the character worries Vincent, an older and (much) methodical cop who has to team up with…
This is also interpreted by Thierry Neuwich, who spoke to us about this new artistic project.
AlloCiné: Tell us about Vincent, your character in “La Recrue”…
Thierry Naevich: He is a police officer who can be described as tough, tough and rough. He experienced a tragedy in his life: his son mysteriously disappeared two years ago. We don’t know what happened, we don’t even know if he died or not. His position is difficult because he has no mourning and at the same time remains in constant questioning.
Pairing up with Kevin in the police force also creates a big problem for him at the initial stage. Everything is against them! He is also the age of Vincent’s lost son… The latter cannot understand this figure who could replace his son anywhere. But in time he’ll let his guard down and be ready to meet this young fool (laughs)
What is unique about your duo?
Our characters face a triple challenge. First of all, there is the contradiction of their characters, that is, Vincent likes order, and Kevin likes disorder. There is also a clash of cultures with Vincent being a local boy born in Biarritz and Kevin coming from more urban areas.
And finally, what I think is most interesting is the intergenerational opposition. There are almost two generations between the two and therefore codes that are completely different! As a result, misunderstandings arise very quickly between them.
How will Vincent’s romantic relationship with Emmanuel (Judith El Zane), who is also his boss?
Their hierarchical positions do not pose a problem for them. They live very well. On the other hand, they are not in the same place at the same time in their personal journeys. All his emotions are still focused on his son. Not much is revealed… I think with time and dialogue they manage to overcome that. There is enough love between them to make this meeting happen and go well.
Were you able to improvise thanks to your participation? Ethan Isidore ?
Very often. We changed a lot of dialogue to add comedy, hopefully to improve the scenes. Then, I don’t know which screenwriter said this, but the script remains alive until the editing. The script is written in the office or bedroom.
However, once we’re in the setting, once in costume, a lot of things happen that we didn’t see at the time of writing. The good thing about Ethan is that he keeps an eye on what’s going on because he’s alive and receptive. It’s not just up her alley. I like it a lot because I am like that too.
What’s your take on the young cast he’s a part of?
I think it’s great. As soon as it is alive, full of life, full of desire, full of passion, I immediately sign it! We need all this, otherwise we will die, we all dry up (laughs) these young people come with something new, something new. This is necessarily.
Will you be back for a second season of “La Recrue”? do you have other plans
Obviously, we all want to do a second season! Then we’ll go through the texts to see what works for everyone… but I’m hoping to do a second season. At the same time, I am shooting a mini-series for France 2 called Made in France. I’m going to shoot season 8 of Sam for TF1. Next, I am going to participate in a family saga and a thriller, but I can’t talk yet.
