Robert Fico was rushed to a local hospital

The Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico, was killed this Wednesday (15th) while leaving a government meeting in Handlova, near Bratislava.

According to the British broadcaster BBC, the politician was shot while speaking to the crowd waiting for him in front of a cultural centre. The attacker who fired the shots was arrested shortly after the action.

A group of journalists present at the scene revealed that more than one shot had been fired during the attack. The bullets apparently hit Fico’s chest area.

The 59-year-old head of the Slovak government was rushed to hospital, but his health condition has not yet been made public. .
