Although Eugenio Derbez has triumphed in recent years in Mexican cinema and Hollywood, it has been more than a decade since he worked on a television comedy scripted in Spanish. The last of his works of this type was La Familia P.Luche. That’s about to change thanks to ViX’s ‘And They Came in the Night’ series.
Eugenio Derbez will star in a series as Dracula: it will be “And they came at night”
On May 14, it was announced that Eugenio Derbez will lead the ViX series And They Came at Night. The plot will offer a unique look into the making of the Spanish version of the 1930 horror film ‘Dracula’, which was shot at the same time as the English version, but at night. When Bela Lugosi and the rest of the film’s actors finished their shifts, another cast and crew arrived at Universal Studios to use the same sets and costumes, but filmed in Spanish.
The story will star Eugenio Derbez. Although more cast names have yet to be revealed, Ben Odell, CEO of production company 3Pas Studios, which is also working on the series, promised that it will include the participation of some of the most talented comedians in Mexico.
The script for “And They Came in the Night” was written by Rob Greenberg and Bob Fisher (“The Valet” and “Overboard”).
The announcement of ‘And they came at night’ was accompanied by the first images of the ViX series, in which Eugenio Derbez appears dressed as Dracula.
Currently, there is no estimated release date for the series.
