The Brazilian delegation won two more gold medals at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan. Fernanda Yara won her second title in the 400 meters T47, while Bartolomeu Chaves was the champion in the 400 meters T37. In this way, Brazil reaches 16 gold medals in the competition, surpassing the 14 gold medals won at the 2023 World Cup in Paris.

Brazil had two athletes in the final of the 400 meters T47 (for athletes with upper limb disabilities). The current world champion, Fernanda Yara, had an intense fight in the first half of the match against Venezuelan Lisbeli Vera. But in the last 100 meters the Brazilian ran to win the gold medal with a time of 57.35, against Vera’s 58.09. Petra Luteran, Hungarian, completed the podium with 58.35. Maria Clara Augusto also ran the race and finished in fifth place, with a time of 59s20.
Then, in the final of the men’s 400 meters T37 (for athletes with cerebral palsy), with Bartolomeu Chaves on the track. The Brazilian started further back in the race, finishing fourth in the 200 meters. But in the second half of the race Bartolomeu took first place, guaranteeing another gold for Brazil. He finished the race in 50s74, setting a new personal best. The Russian Andrei Vdovin, with 50.84, and the Tunisian Amen Tissaoui, with 51.32, completed the podium.
Brazil also had representatives in the qualifiers of three events in Wednesday’s morning session of the Para Athletics World Cup. In the T36 100 meters (athletes with cerebral palsy), Aser Ramos finished fourth in his series with 12.46, but advanced to the final thanks to his time. Aline Rocha also placed fourth in the 100 meters T54 (wheelchair athlete), with 18s10. Just like Aser, Aline made it to the final in her time. In the qualifications of the 100 meters T11 (blind athletes), Felipe Gomes came third in his heat, with a time of 11s59, leaving him out of the medal race.
