Why is Marina no longer appearing in ‘Bridgerton 3’? The actress revealed that the series damaged her mental health

Marina Thompson, the character played by Ruby Barker, has left ‘Bridgerton’ fans speculating about her future on the show. Although the third season focuses on Colin’s story, many are wondering why Marina does not appear in this installment. To help you understand, we will explain both the plot of the show and the reasons behind the actress’ decision.

The story of Marina Thompson in the series “Bridgerton”

In the first season, Marina, a distant cousin of the Featherington family, arrives at their home because of a scandalous pregnancy she is experiencing. Soon her relatives are desperate to find her a husband before it is revealed that she will have a son and the one who falls in love with her is Colin Bridgerton.

Although they maintain a relationship, it ends when her pregnancy is revealed and she chooses to marry someone else, namely Phillip Crane. In the second season, she makes a brief appearance when Colin visits her at her new home after a long trip, but is not seen on screen again after that.

Actress who played Marina revealed she was absent from ‘Brigerton 3’ due to mental health issues

Fans thought that in ‘Brigerton 3’ they would see her again, but in the first four chapters there is no sign of her. Although the reason was not known, actress Ruby Barker revealed in an interview with “The LOAF Podcast” that she had two psychotic breaks while filming the first season. The production didn’t help her at the time, and if that wasn’t enough, they pushed her to promote the show regardless of her mental health.

“Not one person from Netflix, not one person from Shondaland, since I had two psychotic breaks from that show, has contacted me or even emailed me to ask if I was okay or if I would be of any use. any kind of aftercare or support,” he said. “Nobody. During filming, I was getting worse. It was a really excruciating part for me because my character was so alienated, so ostracized, alone in these horrible circumstances.”

Barker also expressed that he holds no grudge against Bridgerton’s team or his colleagues, but that could explain why he was absent from the final episodes.

What could happen to the character if Ruby Barker doesn’t return to ‘Bridgerton’?

Marina Thompson is known to be an important character to Eloise’s story in the books because a fever caused by a failed suicide attempt causes Marina to pass out, prompting her husband Phillip Crane to start talking with Eloise Bridgerton.

It is currently unknown if Ruby Barker will reprise her role as Marina in the second part of ‘Bridgerton 3’, if she will be replaced by another actress, or if the character will disappear justifying her suicide, which has left fans confused.

One important point is that Barker’s departure could be a problem, since Eloise’s story is the fourth in the chronological order of the books. If Netflix decides to adapt Benedict’s story first, that would mean an entire season in which his name might not be mentioned.
