Vasco aims to end their winless streak at home against Flamengo

This Sunday (2), Vasco hosts Flamengo at the Maracanã and tries to interrupt the streak of consecutive victories against the Rossoneri.

In the seventh round of the Brazilian championship, Vasco will face Flamengo this Sunday (2), at 4pm, at the Maracanã stadium. The clash, previously postponed by the CBF due to the rain tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul, will feature Cruz-Maltino and, according to the Sócio Gigante portal, this Thursday more than 50 thousand tickets have already been purchased for the “Classic of the Millions” .

Vasco da Gama thus tries to interrupt the series of victories obtained against the Rossoneri hosts. Since Carioca 2016, where they won 2-0, Gigante da Colina had failed to win against Flamengo.

In the Brazilian championship, only in the 2015 edition did the Rossoneri club win, winning 1-0, a goal scored by striker Duvier Riascos. Since the 2016 Carioca clash, there have been eight wins for Flamengo and five draws. In the previous edition of the Brazilian Championship there were two triumphs for the Rossoneri team, 4-1 and 1-0.

Therefore, the new coach Álvaro Pacheco will face the challenge in his first classic as commander of the Vasco team. During the training week, Álvaro Pacheco praised João Victor’s performance as a defender, giving him the chance to play in the starting lineup for the next match. The technical staff also gave a positive evaluation to full-back Puma Rodriguez, who could have a better chance in the team. So, this Sunday, with a full house at the Maracanã, Álvaro Pacheco aims to make his debut on the right foot in the first classic under the guidance of Vasco.
