Abigail Izquierdo Ferreira (better known as Bibi Ferreira) was a Brazilian presenter, actress, singer, composer and director, highlighted as one of the greatest talents of Brazilian theater, especially in the musical world. Born in the city of Rio de Janeiro on June 1, 1922, Bibi came from a family already involved in the world of art, as her father was the Brazilian actor Procópio Ferreira and her mother was the Argentine dancer Aída Izquierdo.
She was so natural at art that Bibi made her debut in the artistic world when she was just over 20 days old, in a theater show, replacing a missing stage doll. Although she lived abroad for some years with her mother, accompanying her on tour with her ballet company, it was in Brazil that she truly discovered herself as an artist, making her professional debut in 1941 in the show ” The innkeeper”.

After her debut in 1941, Bibi Ferreira embarked on a theatrical career, founding her own theater company with some of the most important names in Brazilian theater of the time, such as Cacilda Becker, Maria Della Costa and Henriette Morineau. The group has translated major international hits into Portuguese, as well as bringing some of their own works. She also ventured to Portugal, where she directed plays for four years.

However, it was in the 1960s that Bibi Ferreira truly stood out on the national scene. Participating in the great success “Minha Querida Dama” (translation of “My Fair Lady”), she begins to gain more and more space on TV, where she presents a live program, which for two years brings the biggest names in theater to television .
She has also participated, both as an actress and as a director, in numerous other national theater successes, including “Brasileiro, Profissão: Esperança”, “O Homem de La Mancha” and “Gota d’Água”, with appearances by big names such as Paulo Autran, Chico Buarque, Paulo Pontes, Flávio Rangel and Ruy Guerra. You also directed “Deus Lhe Pague”, which saw the participation of names such as Walmor Chagas, Marília Pêra, Marco Nanini and many other artists.
Bibi Ferreira continued to work in the theater market until the 2010s, moving beyond the musicals that made her a star and also creating comedies such as “Às Favas com os Escrúpulos”, written by Juca de Oliveira and directed by Jô Soares. She entered the list of the 10 Great Women who marked the History of Rio in 2015, and she carried out the closing tour “Bibi-Por Toda Minha Vida” in 2017, already at the peak of her 95 years of life.
Bibi Ferreira died on February 13, 2019, at the age of 96, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
