Exact plot details are still being worked out, but sources say it will be a prequel to the 2006 film, with no screenwriter, streaming platform or TV channel currently attached.

Therefore, the negotiations on the agreements are still ongoing, but Zack Snyderwho was the director and co-writer 300, negotiations for directing and producing the series are ongoing. Deborah Snyder, who produced the film with him, will also return as an executive producer, as will Wesley Kohler. Gianni Nunari, Mark Canton and Bernie Goldman, who produced the film, are also in talks to rejoin the project.

Serial adaptations of films are in vogue!

If the 300 series were to actually be produced, it would be the latest in a long line of cult films being adapted for television, while the pressure to adapt intellectual properties in the streaming world remains strong. For example, Amazon recently ordered a Legally Blonde prequel series about Elle Woods’ high school years, and has also produced Mr. and Mrs. Smith with Donald Glover and Maya Erskine earlier this year. For its part, Apple is producing the Bandits, Bandits series, and other recent examples include shows like Fatal Liaison, Sexy Beast, and Faux-Semblants, all based on feature films of the same name.

Pending more information on this project, 300 can still be seen on VOD.
