Calendar
In the next round Fortaleza will face Bahia, at the Arena Fonte Nova. Meanwhile, Atletico hosts Criciúma, at the Ligga Arena.
First half with goals from Fortaleza
The first 45 minutes were dominated by Fortaleza. Despite having good volume, Pablo Vojvoda’s team failed to create frequently. Renato Kayser was the most active attacker and got a scare with a shot from outside the area. Meanwhile Atletico did little. Cuca’s team seems lost and uninspired in the opponent’s counterattack.
In the final minutes, when the goalless draw seemed decided, the dead ball turned into a goal for Fortaleza. Immediately after the corner, Kusevic deflects and Bento, who hurts, sees the ball die in the net, 1-0.
Second half and pressure from Atletico
When the break returned, Atletico arrived with a very different position. Coach Cuca changed the team tactically and Furacão dominated. By advancing to the sides of the pitch, the away team creates danger and has a great chance with Di Yoro. With the cross, Nikão almost missed the goal. Man of the match, Furacão once again scares Fortaleza with set pieces. In the corner, Erick let go of his foot. Well positioned, goalkeeper João Ricardo performed a miracle. On the rebound the defense moves away.
In the final minutes, with Atletico launched into attack, Fortaleza had two opportunities to define the match. Initially Hercules stopped at Benedict’s miracle. In the second, Moisés even dribbled past the archer, but saw Bento recover and save Hurricane.
