Remakes aren’t always a good idea, especially when the original movie only came out twenty years ago and has left its mark on several generations.
By repeating the exact same story but modernizing it to be modern and more inclusive, the risk of disappointing the public is high.
This is the case of the Mean Girls musical remake that hit theaters earlier in the year, which is itself an adaptation of the Broadway musical adapted from the cult comedy.
If the 2024 remake is based on several features, especially its casting, certain musical sequences, and certain storylines that have been moved to the age of social media, it is very difficult for many to move on from the cult film, let alone go back.
