Refrigerators with AI technology: what are they for?

A new generation of refrigerators with integrated artificial intelligence promises to make food storage more modern and technological. Some companies like Samsung, LG and Electrolux already have products that can identify which foods are missing, detect patterns in the home to manage the appliance’s energy consumption, or even suggest recipes based on available ingredients.

Samsung refrigerators

The South Korean tech company, for example, has a line called Evolution, with refrigerators that use artificial intelligence. The line features four different models RT38, RT42, RT53 and RB50.

An example of the application of artificial intelligence in household appliances is the AI Energy Mode, which monitors usage and consumption patterns in the home. From there, the technology provides information to help save energy. According to the company, these models can save up to 40% on your electricity bill.

The products in the line are also equipped with WiFi, which allows the user to activate or deactivate functions when he is not at home. The RT38, RT42 and RT53 models use POWERvolt technology to prevent devices from experiencing problems during voltage surges. They can operate between 90V and 310V.

Another recent launch from Samsung, the Bespoke AI Famly Hub refrigerator has an internal camera with artificial intelligence. The appliance identifies the available foods and also provides a view of the inside of the appliance. The user can receive recipe suggestions on their smartphone using what they have in the refrigerator.

The product also indicates the expiration date of foods, as well as creating shopping lists and reminders of stored foods. The Bespoke AI Family Hub has a 32-inch screen that displays photos, videos, recipes, and notes.

LG refrigerator

LG Electronic’s InstaView ThinQ refrigerator can inform the user about real-time inventory of products inside the appliance. With this information and built-in artificial intelligence, the equipment can help suggest meals based on available ingredients. The device alerts residents if certain items are running low.

Just like the Bespoke AI Famly Hub, the LG refrigerator has a panel where you can see the inside of the appliance without having to open the door. The screen can show web pages.

Electrolux refrigerator

Electrolux has equipped some of its refrigerators with Autosense technology, which uses artificial intelligence. The function of the technology is to automatically control the internal temperature.

In this way the appliance learns the household routine to regulate the temperature based on the number of times and times the refrigerator door is opened and closed. Based on this information, the warehouse may be colder during periods of greater use and stable during periods of lesser use, such as on holidays or at night.
