Hyundai HB20 and Hyundai Creta shine more and more in dealerships, in front of the common retail consumer; know why
Why Hyundai HB20 and Creta are retail favorites
The automotive industry has long devoted much of its marketing to direct sales (to fleet owners, taxi drivers, governments, etc.). But for many experts, retail sales are still the best barometer for gauging a car’s popularity. And it is in retail that the Hyundai HB20 and Creta shine more and more.
In May, the Hyundai HB20 was the best-selling car at retail with 4,533 registrations, according to Fenabrave. The Hyundai Creta also performed well, placing itself immediately behind with 4,250 units sold. It was second only to the Fiat Strada, which is a commercial vehicle and had 4,462 registrations.
But year-to-date, the Hyundai Creta leads the retail sales with 20,790 units. The Hyundai HB20 figures in an excellent 4th place, behind only the Chevrolet Onix (20,204) and the Fiat Strada (18,452). This is because Hyundai has focused heavily on promotions at dealerships and this has attracted traditional retail consumers.
At the moment, Creta Nova Geração has a bonus of R$10,500 at dealers and a rate of 0.99% in 36 installments. HB20 provides for a down payment of R$19,990 “with reduced installments and guaranteed repurchase”.
Other automakers, such as Fiat and Volkswagen, are focusing more on direct sales, meaning their cars are discounted more because they are sold in batches. In the case of Hyundai the discounts are promotional for the end consumer.
To give you an idea, in direct sales the Hyundai HB20 only ranked 10th with 2,158 registrations. The Hyundai Creta ranked 16th with 1,489. Therefore, it is not wrong to say that Hyundai HB20 was the most popular car of May and Hyundai Creta is the most popular car of the year.
“The leadership of the May retail sales ranking, with the HB20 and Creta, reinforces the prominent position that both have occupied in the Brazilian market since their launch,” comments Angel Martinez, vice president of Hyundai Motor Brasil.
“Having our models manufactured in Piracicaba as the favorites of the end consumer attests to the quality of the product we offer to our customers and the work of our dealer network,” adds Martinez.
In May, the Hyundai HB20 had 67.7% of retail sales and the Hyundai Creta had even more, 74%. For comparison, the market as a whole accounted for only 46% of retail sales and 53.9% of direct sales.
