A change of horizons for Kamala Khan, the young Miss Marvel heroine who left her native New Jersey to return to her family roots in Karachi, Pakistan. After a warm encounter with his grandmother and his cousins, the latter took the opportunity to investigate the past of his great-grandmother Aisha, from whom he inherited cosmic powers, and discovered a non-dimensional origin.
Despite the fact that many scenes take place in the open air, near the emblematic places of the capital of Pakistan, many subscribers of the Disney + platform were wondering if the series moved the filming to Karachi. And the answer is negative, because the footage actually happened…in Thailand!
A guest on the Spotlight podcast produced by our American colleagues BuzzFeedDirected by Charmaine Obaid-Chinoy (Oscar winner for short documentary The Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness) returned to filming episodes 4 and 5 of the Marvel series:
We shot a lot in Thailand, and the August 1947 batch that we explore in the series took place in the middle of a heat wave, and we shot those exact scenes in Thailand, which was also very hot. Between the climate, the extras, but also the sets of trains and station platforms, it was a truly surreal moment experienced by everyone involved in filming these scenes.
The six-episode Miss Marvel miniseries was created as an introduction to Kamala Khan’s character, which MCU fans will be able to find next summer in The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson. .
The first five episodes of Miss Marvel are now available exclusively on the Disney+ platform.
