GWM maintains promotional pricing for Haval H6 PHEV19

The good acceptance of the Brazilian market for the Haval H6 PHEV19 has prompted GWM to extend the promotion of the SUV. The launch price of R$229,000 will be maintained for several days

The Haval H6 PHEV19, entry-level version of the plug-in hybrid SUV of the Chinese car manufacturer, arrived in Brazil for R$ 229 thousand, in a launch promotion that would end this Friday (21st). And the acceptance of the new model was so good that the brand decided to maintain promotional prices for longer.

GWM informed the press that demand for the entry-level version of the entry-level SUV “is greater than expected”. Given this, and “the extremely positive impact from the media and customers”, the automaker has decided to extend the promotion and maintain the price.

According to the Chinese brand, the request to maintain the price of R$ 229,000 came from the dealers and the managers decided to comply. Although no new date is scheduled, it is possible that the GWM promotion will extend until July 1st, the date on which new tax on imported electrified vehicles will come into force in Brazil.

For those who don’t know, today the import tariffs on electrified vehicles in Brazil are 10% for pure electric vehicles (DRINK), 12% for plug-in hybrids (PHEV), like this version of the Haval H6, and 12% also for the HEV AND microhybrids.

The new tax rate could hurt sales

New import rates for electrified vehicles in Brazil could play against a rapidly evolving marketwith positive numbers and records broken in the first months of 2024.

According to the Federal Government, from 1 July taxes will rise to 18% (BEV), 20% (PHEV) and 25% for micro-hybrids (MHEV).

The situation will worsen further in January 2026, when taxes will be adjusted again and will be at 25%, 28% and 30% respectively. In July of the same year everyone will have the same rate of 35%.
