WhatsApp will allow you to dial numbers directly from the app

WhatsApp tests its in-app dialer; the new feature will allow you to make calls quickly without having to save the number in the address book

OR Whatsapp has started testing its dialer to speed up calls in the Android app: the change allows you to type the number and call a contact quickly, without the need to save it in the address book. According to the WABetaInfo website, the new feature was released in version 2.24.13.17 of the Messenger Beta on the Play Store.

The new dialer can be accessed from a floating icon in the calls tab of the app. After typing the number, WhatsApp also offers a shortcut to save the contact, which can be very useful when exchanging information with other people.

With the new feature, WhatsApp can further simplify the process of adding people to the messenger. It is worth remembering that for a long time it was necessary to save the contact in the mobile calendar and only then open a conversation with the person on the app: the scenario changed last year, when Zap allowed you to start conversations with unknown numbers from search.

The arrival of the dialer would also help in emergency situations: since many people use WhatsApp as their main method of calling, simply dialing the number would start an audio call, skipping the entire contact registration process.

Availability

Initially, the feature was only released in the Beta version of the Android application. In a test carried out by Canaltechthe dialer could not be accessed on a device that is part of the experimental program, indicating that distribution is limited and may reach more people in the coming weeks.

It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp recently announced improvements to app calls: In case of audio calls, the app has adopted a new codec to improve noise and echo cancellation in noisy places. As for audio calls, the messenger has expanded support for up to 32 participants in a meeting and launched a Zoom-style feature to highlight presenters.
