‘Crazy Friday 2’ is closer than ever: the first photos and more details of the film

Jamie Lee Curtis’ efforts to make a sequel to Crazy Friday have paid off. The film is already in production.

It was in October 2022 that the actress who played Tess Coleman publicly commented that she had written to Disney to propose a sequel to the 2003 film.

In the following months, the 65-year-old interpreter and Lindsay Lohan expressed in multiple interviews their desire to star in “Freaky Friday 2.” Now, the production is underway and the first details of the film are already available.

Last March, Disney gave the green light to the project, and on June 24, the first production news arrived. Today, the production company, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan announced that the shooting of the sequel of “Freaky Friday” has begun.

The news came with the first images from the set, showing the actors in their trailers, without revealing much about the film’s premise.

Although there is no official synopsis for ‘Friday Friday 2’ yet, ‘Entertainment Weekly’ reported in April 2024 that the plot could be similar to that of the first one. Anna would be a single mother of a teenager, who does not approve of her mother soon marrying a restaurateur, who also has a daughter. On this occasion, Anna and Tess switched bodies with the young women.

As previously reported, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan will reprise their roles as mother and daughter, Tess and Anna Coleman.

In addition to the lead actors, audiences will be able to see the original cast members return, including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao.

The cast of “Brazil Friday 2” is rounded out with the new faces of Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons.

It will be directed by Nisha Ganatra.

When will ‘Crazy Friday 2’ be released?

The sequel to “Freaky Friday” will hit theaters in 2025, with no specific date yet. Although there were rumors that the sequel could be exclusive to the Disney+ streaming platform, ‘Variety’ confirmed that this is not true.
