The scenes from ‘House of the Dragon’ that are identical to ‘Shrek’: there are many similarities

“House of the Dragon” is one of the most popular series of the moment, and although many would think that both its characters and story are very original, fans have discovered on the Internet that this production has copied scenes from a classic cartoon: “Shrek”. When you compare them, you can notice amazing cinematic parallels.

Tyrant kings with a crown

Aegon II was the young man who was imposed as king to rule Westeros and is characterized as a cruel and self-centered man. In fact, if we compare him to Lord Farquaad, they have many similarities, as they both had a fake coronation ceremony and boast about their power as monarchs.

Is Alicent wearing the same dress as Fiona?

In the first season of “House of the Dragon,” we see Alicent arrive at Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon’s wedding and interrupt King Viserys I’s speech by entering through the main door wearing an elegant green dress. This scene immediately reminded the audience of Fiona’s character, since the princess wears an outfit of the same tone with yellow details and, curiously, they have almost the same hair color and even hairstyle.

There is a beautiful wedding

The film “Shrek” ends with the wedding of the ogre protagonist and Fiona, who celebrate their union with the characters of the fairy tale, which delighted the audience. In “House of the Dragon,” the scene that got fans excited was that of Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen, who go from uncle and niece to husband and wife. Both weddings were touching!

An awkward family dinner and a roast pig

One of the most memorable scenes from “Shrek 2” is the one where our favorite ogre meets Fiona’s parents for dinner and gets to know them better. However, due to differences with the king, what should be a happy situation ends up in strife and with food scattered everywhere.

For its part, “House of the Dragon” seems to have reproduced this situation, since the Targaryen family also ends up torn apart by the battles and innuendos that Alicent and Rhaenyra’s children throw against each other, just as it happens in the animated film designs. Additionally, in both scenarios we also see a roast pig being served, which arrives at the table to the delight of fans.

A dragon interrupts the coronation

Another striking similarity between the DreamWorks film and the HBO Max series is the scene in which a dragon interrupts a king’s coronation. In ‘Shrek’, Donkey rides the dragon and enters the church by breaking a window to stop the supposed coronation of Lord Farquaad and eats him.

In “House of the Dragon”, Princess Rhaenys, before escaping from King’s Landing, crashes Aegon’s coronation by riding Meraxes and destroying Dragonwell. Although he could have wiped out the royal family at the time, he chose not to, which is the only difference with “Shrek” since no monarchs were killed.

The tragic deaths of kings

Both “Shrek” and “Dragon Lodge” feature the death of a king after a meaningful discussion with a member of his family.

In “Shrek”, King Harold tells Shrek that he is still in the line of succession, which the dragon does not like, and in “House of the Dragon”, Viserys A accidentally reveals part of Aegon’s prophecy to the Conqueror, believing he was speaking to Rhaenyra.

Both productions show legs in some of their scenes, but for very different purposes. In “Shrek the Third” they are seen as a way to introduce the protagonist’s children, while in “House of the Dragon” Larys Strong appreciates Alicent’s feet to satisfy his sexual desires.
