The TV series ‘Brigerton’ has shown us glamorous scenes that look straight out of a perfect fantasy story. However, his filming was not easy at all, since there were some accidents that ended up affecting some actors. Here we explain some of these incidents.
“Bridgerton” actors who suffered accidents on the set of the series
Nicola Coughlan hits someone after losing his balance
In 2020, the first season of “Bridgerton” premiered and, with its overwhelming success, everyone wanted to meet the actors who participated in it. Many gave interviews recounting their happy experiences on set, but Nicola Coughlan, the actress who plays Penelope Featherington, revealed that she had an accident that affected a close friend of hers.
In an interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Coughlan said her first day on set she felt very nervous after being asked to wear heels, shoes she wasn’t used to walking in. Predictably, she fell several times and, in one of those falls, ended up accidentally “stabbing” her friend with an umbrella.
Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton had an accident together
Love scenes are part of ‘Brigerton’ and you’ll be surprised to know that in season three, where Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton starred as Penelope and Colin, an unexpected moment happened. It all started when they were both filming the scene where the couple had sex for the first time on a couch.
Everything was going perfectly, but from one moment to the next the furniture ended up with a broken leg, since it could not support the weight and movement of both. This made the whole set burst into laughter and the actors took it with such humor that they even posed with the broken chair.
Claudia Jessie ended up with a broken wrist
Last May, the British actress revealed in an interview with Stephen Colbert that she celebrated the start of season three by kicking the air, but her skirt caused her to lose her balance and she fell backwards, injuring one of her wrists.
Although he thought it would just be a passing pain, he began to feel a ringing in his ear and noticed that his wrist was indeed broken, as one of his bones had split. This incident landed her in the hospital and wearing a cast, which turned out to be a problem since the cast was not supposed to be shown on screen.
Ingeniously, the producers chose to cover her dolls with costumes and props, which explains why Eloise sometimes wore full-sleeved outfits and used fans to hide her doll.
King George broke his ankle
Corey Mylchreest is the actor who played King George in the series ‘Queen Charlotte’, a prequel to ‘Bridgerton’. During filming, he faced a major challenge as he broke his ankle halfway through the shoot and had to use an immobilizer boot to recover.
Given this situation, one of the options was to tape him from the waist up over several chapters and prevent him from walking. However, Corey decided to stand up in one of the show’s key scenes, when Jorge confesses his love for Charlotte. For several minutes he endured the pain and as soon as they stopped spinning he used his crutches again.
