Riposte continues to wipe out everything in its path in France. A week after its release on Netflix, this action flick starring Jessica Alba is still in the top 10. Despite killer reviews, it enjoys a fairly empty schedule and becomes one of the hits of the moment.

If on the casting side, Jessica Alba is the center of attention, in Riposte we find very familiar faces, such as Anthony Michael Hall, who plays a corrupt politician, or Gabriel Basso, who lends his qualities to Mike, our hero’s friend.

If Basso stays away from the action, it’s still a style he’s excelled at since last year starring in The Night Agent, one of Netflix’s most-watched series.

It’s not easy to recognize the man who lends his qualities to FBI agent Peter Sutherland in Riposte: with his impressive beard and his cool style, here he plays a somewhat defeated dealer who helps Parker find his father’s killers.

And if Gabriel Basso has changed, it’s because he made this movie… Before Night Agent, for which he underwent intense training. Indeed, Alba and the rest of his team filmed Fightback in 2021 in New Mexico.

Netflix waited 3 years before adding it to their catalog, probably to make up for a fairly light summer lineup. Between these two shoots, Gabriel Basso grew a beard and trained for months for the night agent:

“I auditioned for this role while shooting Riposte. I had this tip. When I sent in my audition tape, they told me it wasn’t right. At the end of the shooting, I asked my team if they had found the actor and it turned out that they had not. I shaved my beard and tried my luck again…” He explains of this interview.

Meanwhile, Basso continued to do boxing sessions, martial arts, so that he could do stunts himself and gained weight. Thanks to the night agent, the 29-year-old actor gained fame. And it will return to our screens in late 2024 or early 2025 with Season 2, which it has completed filming.
