The recording of the meeting held in 2020 was made public by decision of the FST this Monday 15th.
Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said in a meeting with the lawyers of Senator FLávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) and the head of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), Alexandre Ramagem, that in 2019, the then governor of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel (PMB), proposed to “solve” the case of the investigation into his son’s crack cocaine in exchange for a seat on the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The audio was made public this Monday 15, by decision of the Minister of Justice, Alexandre Moraes.
“Last year [2019]halfway through the year, I met the [Wilson] Witzel, I didn’t hear anything. [inaudível] the problem is very small. He said: solve the case of Flávio. Give me a place on the Supreme Court”, reads the decoupage of the Federal Police that tells of a meeting that defined the defense strategies of the son of the former president.
The case cited by Bolsonaro is that of rachadinhas, a practice in which employees appointed to the cabinet return part of their salary to the parliamentarian. This investigation against Flávio was the subject of the meeting with the senator’s lawyers, Juliana Bierrenbach and Luciana Pires, the then head of Abin, Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ) and the Minister of the Institutional Security Office, General Augusto Heleno.
The audio, according to the PF, was recorded by Alexandre Ramagem, currently a federal deputy and pre-candidate for mayor of Rio. The meeting took place on August 25, 2020. Bolsonaro’s official agenda did not record this meeting. Investigators indicate that the audio is evidence of Bolsonaro’s participation in the criminal plan.
The recording of the meeting was found during the investigation into the case known as “Abin Paralela”. According to the PF, a structure was created in the Bolsonaro government to illegally investigate political opponents. Bolsonaro and Ramagem deny any irregularities and crimes committed.
Federal police arrested four people last week as they continued their investigation into the illegal use of Abin.
