MUBI FEST announces lineup of chats with Isabela Boscov, Christian Dunker and more

The free talks aim to complement the cinematic experiences of this edition of the festival.

A MUBIa global distributor, streaming service and producer, announced this Tuesday, 23, the chat schedule for the MUBI FESTwhich will take place from July 26 to 28, at Cinemateca Brasileira, in São Paulo.

To access these talks, which will be free and subject to capacity on the Open Air deck, where the activities will take place, you must collect your ticket one hour in advance at the Cinemateca Brasileira distribution point.

On the opening date, after the national preview of Strange Paththere will be a chat with the director Guto Parente and the actor Lucas Limeira. The conversation will be mediated by the journalist Isabella Faria and the writer, researcher and psychoanalyst Andre Alves (Float Vibes). Tickets for the session and debate are already sold out.

In addition to the debates, the MUBI FEST will have other free attractions, such as activations and dynamics so that the public has the opportunity to win the desired blue ecobag from the brand and other promotional items from MUBI. Entry to the Cinemateca is free.

About the participants

Andre Alves
André is a writer, psychoanalyst, and researcher of culture and behavior. He has 15 years of experience in solving marketing and branding challenges. He has taught and spoken at several courses and events, such as ESOMAR — the largest global market research event. He was also head of trends at Box1824 SP and NYC, in addition to having worked at communications agencies such as W/McCann and LiveAd. André has worked with clients such as C&A, Renner, Nike, Adidas, Lacoste, Melissa, AB-InBev, among others. Passionate about tea, he has developed consulting projects for tea brands such as Coca-Cola and Baer-mate, in addition to being a contributor to the international magazine Eighty Degrees.

Carissa Vieira
Carissa Vieira has a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from UFPE. She works as a researcher and screenwriter in various audiovisual media. She was part of the script team for the DRelacionamentos channel and wrote for the original Spotify program Alimente seu Sol. She is a teacher and provides script consulting services, specializing in the construction of narratives with good developments in gender and race issues. A film critic and curator, she has been on the jury of several film festivals. A columnist for the website Cinem(ação), she also has a channel where she discusses the construction of women and black characters in audiovisual, with a focus mainly on the horror genre.

Christian Dunker
Psychoanalyst and professor at the Department of Clinical Psychology at USP. He has a post-doctorate from Manchester Metropolitan University (England) and is the author of books such as “Structure and Constitution of the Psychoanalytic Clinic” (Annablume, 2012), Jabuti award for best book in Psychology and Psychoanalysis in 2012, “The Neurotic Calculation of Enjoyment” (Escuta, 2002), “Lacan and the Clinic of Interpretation” (Hacker, 1996), “A Biography of Depression” (Paidós, 2021) and “Finite and Infinite Mourning” (Paidós, 2023).

Guto Parente
Director, screenwriter and editor, Guto Parente (Fortaleza, 1983) graduated in cinema in the first class of the Audiovisual School of Fortaleza; he was a member of the artist collective Alumbramento (2008-16) and has been a partner in the production company Tardo Filmes since 2012. He has made seven short films – among them Flash Happy Society (2009) and Dizem que os Cães Veem Coisas (2012), shown at the Locarno Festival (Switzerland) – and nine feature films, such as Estrada para Ythaca (2010) and Os Monstros (2011), both competing at BAFICI (Argentina) – Os Monstros received a special mention from the jury. His filmography also includes The Mysterious Death of Pérola (2014), Hellraiser (2018) and The Cannibal Club (2018), all three of which were released at the Rotterdam Festival (Netherlands) and shown at several festivals around the world. His 10th feature film, Strange Path, was released at the 2023 Tribeca Festival (United States).

Isabella Boscov
Isabela Boscov has loved cinema since she was little. She graduated in Radio and Television from ECA-USP, but since the beginning of her career she has always worked as a journalist: she worked in the Culture section of Jornal da Tarde, worked at Folha de S. Paulo (in the Illustrated section and also in the Daily and Science sections), was editor-in-chief of SET magazine, and executive editor and film critic for Veja magazine. In 2015, Isabela founded Whoopsy Daisy with designer Guilherme Gouveia, to begin her independent production on the web through the Isabela Boscov channel on YouTube and her presence on social media.

Isabella Faria
Isabella Faria is a journalist, presenter, content creator and film critic. She has worked for media outlets such as CNN Brasil and Folha de S.Paulo. She talks about cinema daily on social media through essays and film tips.

Juliana Rojas
Juliana Rojas is a director and screenwriter of short films, feature films and series. Juliana’s work focuses on genre narratives that range from fantasy, horror, science fiction, musicals and comedy. Her films have been screened and awarded at several international festivals dedicated to the fantasy genre, such as SITGES, FANTASTIC FEST, LÉTRANGE and GERARDMER. Among her solo works, the award-winning short films O DUPLO and A PASSAGEM DO COMETA and the feature films SINFONIA DA NCRÓPOLE and CIDADE; CAMPO stand out – the latter was screened at the 2024 Berlin Festival and will be released in Brazil in August 2024. With Marco Dutra, she made the short films O LENÇOL BRANCO and UMRAMO, among others, and the feature films TRABALHAR CANSA and AS BOAS MANEIRAS. He participated as a screenwriter in the series SUPERMAX (Globo), 3% (Netflix) and BOCA A BOCA (Netflix), and directed episodes of BOCA A BOCA (Netflix), TERRORES URBANOS (Record) and TARÃ (Disney Plus – Finalization).

Lorenna Montenegro
Lorenna Montenegro is a journalist, film critic, curator, screenwriter and screenwriting professor at the Academia Internacional de Cinema – AIC. She is a member of Coletivo Elviras, ABRA (Brazilian Association of Screenwriters) and Abraccine. Affiliated with FORCINE, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, studied Audiovisual Production at PUCRS and has a specialization in Cinema and Audiovisual Language at Estácio de Sá. She also teaches Documentary Screenwriting at the Escola Superior de Artes Célia Helena, in the Postgraduate Program in Performing Arts. She provides courses on film history and criticism, screenwriting and audiovisual narrative, building affirmative characters, the heroine’s journey and feminist filmology – such as the course As Pioneiras do Cinema, together with film critic, cultural journalist and documentarist Flavia Guerra. She is an international voter for the Golden Globes and publishes her reviews, as well as coverage of Film Festivals and Showcases, on the blog Kinemacríticas.com. He has coordinated the As Amazonas do Cinema Festival since 2020.

Lucas Limeira
Black. Actor and Producer of the Coletivo Grão and Grupo Teatro na Porta de Casa. He works in Theater, Cinema and Audiovisual. Graduated in Theater from the Federal University of Ceará – UFC (2022), he also has training in the basic acting course from the Porto Iracema School of Arts (2017). He starred in the film “Cabeça de Nêgo”, by Déo Cardoso, available on Globoplay.

Tati Bernardi
Tati Bernardi is a writer, film and television scriptwriter, presenter, columnist, literature reviewer, podcaster, videocaster, playwright and editor. She has published eight books in total, the last three of which were published by Companhia das Letras. Her book “Depois a Louca sou eu” was a bestseller, selling around 45 thousand copies. She has been a columnist for Folha de São Paulo for 10 years and a videocaster for two highly-rated programs on UOL. She created the highly successful podcasts “Calcinha Larga”, “Quem lê tanta notícias” and “Meu Inconsciente Coletivo”, as well as other videocasts. In the audiovisual field, she wrote the feature films Meu Passado me Condena 1 and 2, which together grossed over 5 million at the box office, in addition to programs for channels such as Rede Globo and Multishow.
