Deadpool and Wolverine hit theaters a week ago and continue to break records. Having reached the $500 million mark at the global box office, the film is now close to beating Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, the highest-grossing R-rated film in American film history.
Deadpool & Wolverine Closes in on The Passion of the Christ Box Office
Outside the U.S., the Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman film’s biggest markets are China ($27 million), the U.K. ($25 million), Mexico ($21 million), Australia ($14 million) and Brazil ($10 million).
At the global box office, the film is already the sixth biggest of 2024. Its opening price ($205 million) also made the film the best debut of the year so far, easily surpassing Inside Out 2’s $155 million.
It also surpassed the first Deadpool’s $132 million gross.
Deadpool 3 is the first film to enter production after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. This means the film will finally put the hero into the official MCU timeline, one of the reasons the sequel was so highly anticipated.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Deadpool & Wolverine premiered in Brazil on July 25. The film is still playing in theaters.
